What this viewer shows
- 6 public profile fields: username, display name, bio, avatar, followers and following.
- Up to 12 recent posts as thumbnails, each linking to the original post.
- A direct link to the profile on Instagram, which stays the authoritative source.
How it works
- You enter a public username — no @ symbol, no login.
- Server-side API routes validate the handle, rate limit the request and call the data source.
- The response is cached for 5 minutes, so a repeat lookup returns instantly.

Frequently asked questions
Is it optimized for Core Web Vitals?
Yes: minimal JS, server routes, and simple UI.
Does this work on iPhone?
Yes, in Safari or Chrome on iOS with no App Store download. The layout switches to a two-column post grid and the input uses your normal keyboard.
Does this work on Android?
Yes, in Chrome or any modern Android browser, with no APK and no Play Store install. Avoid downloadable viewer APKs; they commonly ask for Instagram credentials.
How much mobile data does a lookup use?
A profile card plus up to 12 lazy-loaded thumbnails — a small fraction of what scrolling the Instagram app consumes, and thumbnails below the fold never load unless you scroll.
Why do thumbnails sometimes stay blank on mobile?
Instagram's image CDN occasionally refuses a hotlinked thumbnail. The profile data is still valid; tap through to the post on Instagram to see the image.
Can I add the viewer to my home screen?
Yes. Use Add to Home Screen in Safari or Chrome for a one-tap shortcut. It is a bookmark, not an installed app, so it requests no permissions.
Is the mobile version limited compared to desktop?
No. Both show the same 6 profile fields and up to 12 posts; only the grid width differs, at two columns on a phone and three on a desktop screen.
Do I need the Instagram app installed to open a post?
No. Post links open instagram.com in your browser. If the Instagram app is installed, your phone may hand the link to it, which is your device's choice rather than ours.
